Intel on Friday announced a number of executive changes including the promotion of Brian Krzanich to chief operating officer and the departure of Mooly Eden from his position as the head of the PC Client Group, the company’s largest product group, to run Intel’s operations in Israel. The shakeup comes a day after Intel reported record earnings for 2011 that included double-digit year-over-year growth in revenue, net income, and earnings per share. Krzanich (pictured) takes on the responsibilities of Intel board vice chairman Andy Bryant, who is set to become the full-time executive chairman of the board in May. Intel CEO Paul Otellini, who does not have an official successor, graduated from the COO position in 2005 to become chief executive of the company. Intel, which in its history has promoted all of its chief executives from within the company, enforces a mandatory retirement age of 65 for executives. Otellini is 61. Eden will be replaced by Kirk Skaugen, who takes over the PC Client Group after running Intel’s Data Center and Connected Systems Group.
