MoviePass is switching up its subscription model once again in the new year, and users in major markets can look forward to paying more for their monthly subscription. The company, which has faced an array of problems with its pricing model and the basic functionality of its app, announced that starting Jan. 1, customers will have three subscription options, depending of their market: Select: Three 2D movies per month, excluding opening weekend titles. All Access: Any three 2D movies per month, including opening weekend showtimes. Red Carpet: Any three movies per month, including opening weekend titles. One of those three movies can be in IMAX 2D, IMAX 3D, or supported Premium Large Format. Each plan offers three movies each month, and is targeted at the “casual movie goer,” according to the press release. As for the monthly price, that will depend on where you live: The zones depend on the subscriber’s zip code, according to Quartz, with big cities like New York and Los Angeles comprising the priciest zones. We’ve reached out to MoviePass to get information on the other zones and will update when they respond.
