MANCHESTER CITY’S clash with Manchester United was paused for three minutes during the first-half due to a medical emergency in the stands. Supporters behind the goal waved for the attention of stewards and medical staff in the 35th minute of Sunday’s huge Premier League derby. Referee Michael Oliver momentarily paused the game as the medical emergency was given attention. The match was then able to resume a few minutes later. According to the BBC , an individual had ‘collapsed’ in the stands – but has since been able to get up and is currently being assessed in hospital. This season has seen a number of similar incidents occur during Prem games. Newcastle’s 3-2 defeat to Tottenham in October was suspended for 20 minutes following an incident in the stands. Further incidents have taken place around the league in the following months.
