Adobe software certainly sets you back a fair percentage of your student loans, but it can be the best software investment you will ever make. My addiction to Adobe products -- Photoshop, Illustrator and Lightroom in particular -- meant that in my student days I did go without that extra beer on a fair few occasions. However, as a start-up website designer, this software became imperative to own and eventually paid for itself. A new service, Adobe Creative Cloud, was announced by the company in October, before the front became rather quiet and specific details were kept under guard. However, the online subscription service is back on board. Users can expect to pay $49.99 per month on a one-year contract for access to the cloud, which equates to $600 per year for the basic package. By subscribing to Creative Cloud, users will be able to use Adobe Creative Suite products on a desktop, mobile or tablet device. For those who aren't keen to invest thousands in software, if you plan to … [Read more...] about Adobe Creative Cloud
Adobe Systems has launched its Adobe Creative Cloud for India's small and midsized businesses (SMBs), with the enterprise edition to follow in the next few months. Released last Friday, the Adobe Creative Cloud is a membership-based service that provides users with unlimited access to all Creative Suite desktop applications, plus other applications including Adobe Photoshop Lightroom, Adobe Muse, Adobe Edge, Adobe Acrobat. The service is, of course, a radical new way in which Adobe would offer its industry-leading tools and services. Adobe Creative Cloud was launched in six markets in May last year and had successfully garnered over a million users as of end-2012. Subscribers will get access to Adobe's latest products, services, features and workflows as soon as they are available. This model enables members to automatically receive updates without … [Read more...] about Adobe Creative Cloud for SMBs launches in India
Adobe Systems launched Adobe Creative Cloud for India's small and midsized businesses (SMBs) in March this year. The membership-based service provides users with unlimited access to all Creative Suite desktop applications, plus other applications including Adobe Photoshop Lightroom, Adobe Muse, Adobe Edge, and Adobe Acrobat. In an email interview with Umang Bedi, Managing Director, South Asia, Adobe Systems, we discussed how the service is a radical new way in which Adobe offers its tools and services. It's a shift to software-as-a-service (SaaS) that is similar to the one that Microsoft went through recently with Office 365 . Question: How’s the adoption of Creative Cloud in India? How’s the breakup in adoption between enterprises and SMBs?We have seen a strong growth in terms of customers transacting to purchase Adobe products online, since our Creative Cloud Membership launch in May 2013. As far as SMBs are concerned, thousands of mid-market customers have … [Read more...] about Is Adobe Creative Cloud attracting Indian SMBs?
Editors' note, June 19, 2014: Updated with a tour of some of Photoshop CC's new features. In a recent briefing to prepare us for the annual barrage of Adobe announcements, one of Adobe's technology development people said of the company's app development, "These early experiments...are one of the first stages of constructing the core products. Sooner or later, mouse and keyboard won't be enough in Photoshop, Illustrator and InDesign. We're trying to prepare ourselves for when that entire market gets disrupted. " To me, that's the theme of this year's Creative Cloud extravaganza. Yes, Adobe's offering up the usual updates to the desktop applications, major and minor. But we're also seeing a company whose success has been built on monolithic, computationally intensive applications struggling to address the changing needs of its core base of imaging professionals -- whose need for lightweight mobile apps is growing rapidly. The launch of CC in 2011 was the first step down that road, … [Read more...] about Adobe Creative Cloud 2014: It’s all about apps and APIs
