I bought the cheapest smartwatch on Amazon — here’s how bad it is
Surely a smartwatch that costs just $36 will be terrible, right? With an average 4.5 stars out of 5 rating from nearly 35,000 different reviews, the $36 Willful Smart Watch is not only one of the highest-rated, but also one of the cheapest smartwatches you can buy through Amazon. It’s also one of many extremely similar models, from companies like Popglory, Letsfit, Vigorun, Judneer, Lifebee, and IdealRoyal. No, I’ve never heard of them either. Trending in Mobile: What is 5G? 5G Network Coverage Map This doesn’t suggest awfulness. The Willful, astonishingly, is also the number one best-selling smartwatch on Amazon U.K. (where it has another 17,000 reviews and a 4.5-star average), so surely it’s a hidden gem amongst the sea of similar-but-lesser models? Razer’s Anzu Bluetooth audio smartglasses aren’t just for gamers
Gaming company Razer is the latest to jump onboard the trend of audio smartglasses with the newly announced Razer Anzu Smart Glasses, its first eyewear product. The Anzu aren’t just your typical pair of smart sunglasses. They serve a purpose that’s relevant not only to gamers — Razer’s core fanbase — but to anyone working from home, by blocking out blue light and being versatile enough to be used indoors and out. The Anzu’s clear lenses block 35% of blue light , to reduce glare and eyestrain, and its sunglass lenses cut out 99% of UVA and UVB light. Razer has done the right thing and not forced you to choose which set of lenses best suits your lifestyle, and instead just bundled both sets inside the box, leaving you to swap them depending on your need. A very good idea. In the arms are 16mm drivers ready to deliver sound to your ears, without actually having to put something in your ears. It’s the same concept as the Bose Frames , Huawei’s Eyewear II , and a growing number of … [Read more...] about Razer’s Anzu Bluetooth audio smartglasses aren’t just for gamers
Qualcomm wants Snapdragon Sound to be a stamp of approval for high-quality audio
Qualcomm is making it easier to single out devices that take advantage of the company’s many audio enhancements, by introducing Snapdragon Sound. It’s not a single piece of tech or innovation, but rather a stamp of approval given to smartphones, headphones, and wireless earbuds which include particular Qualcomm audio technologies. To gain a Snapdragon Sound stamp, a device will require some of the following components inside, including a Snapdragon 8-series chipset , one of Qualcomm’s Bluetooth audio chipsets, Qualcomm’s active noise canceling (ANC) technology, AptX Voice and AptX Adaptive support , and to use both Qualcomm’s Aqstic codec and its Audio and Voice Communication Suite. Rather than stuffing a device full of these and stopping there, Qualcomm will test all Snapdragon Sound products for both performance and compatibility, making sure the mark will actually mean something. Qualcomm’s intent is for Snapdragon Sound products to provide a high-quality, reliable, and … [Read more...] about Qualcomm wants Snapdragon Sound to be a stamp of approval for high-quality audio
