Having said that, Samsung’s Gear Live is unquestionably one of the least offensive models out there. The matte gunmetal bezel classes it up over its all-black competitors, and a number of smart curves in the design help disguise the fact that it’s essentially a metal matchbox on your wrist. The pronged wristband looks clean, but also make it trickier to put on. You can’t cinch it down the same way you can with a traditional buckle; you need to wrap it around your wrist as tightly as possible before pinching the prongs in to lock it, which takes some practice. You’ll find only one button on the Gear Live: a power button hidden low on the right side. It’s discreet, but poorly placed: I found the top of my hand jamming into it and resetting the watch from time to time. … [Read more...] about Samsung Gear Live review

Scott Pilgrim vs. the World: The Game — Complete Edition review: Double nostalgia
Still, just as its source material is subject to new examination today, it’s hard not to place the game in a modern critical context. Retro brawlers are a dime a dozen these days and Scott Pilgrim feels one step behind, even as a throwback. Last year’s standout Streets of Rage 4 showed how a brand-new beat-’em-up can feel fast and fluid like a modern game without sacrificing nostalgia. By comparison, some mechanical parts of Scott Pilgrim haven’t aged well, like a lack of air control or finicky hit boxes. … [Read more...] about Scott Pilgrim vs. the World: The Game — Complete Edition review: Double nostalgia
Google’s completed Fitbit acquisition may help Wear OS more than Fitbit
Good news for Fitbit, then. But it’s really Google that needs help on wearables. Google’s own software platform for wearables, Wear OS, is unloved and far behind Apple’s WatchOS and Samsung’s Tizen platform in terms of speed and usability. If the Fitbit acquisition truly is about devices, then it needs to leverage Fitbit’s knowledge and expertise in software and wearable tech hardware just as much as Fitbit needs to delve into Google’s artificial intelligence and software innovations. … [Read more...] about Google’s completed Fitbit acquisition may help Wear OS more than Fitbit
Fossil Q Neely Hybrid review
The case size measures 36mm with a thickness of 12mm, which makes it the same size as the Skagen Signatur T-Bar, but the thicker bezels around the Neely make it look much smaller. Within Fossil’s large hybrid watch collection, the Q Neely is as small as it gets. There are three buttons on the right side, and they’re each meant to trigger different functions you can set via a companion app (more on this later). … [Read more...] about Fossil Q Neely Hybrid review
LG Gram 14 2-in-1 (2020) review: More than just a light laptop
In terms of aesthetics, the Gram 14 can best be described as “handsome.” It’s an attractive dark silver color (it also comes in white) with a bold white Gram logo on the lid and a keyboard font that curiously adds to the design. There’s nothing here that’s going to draw a lot of attention, but I like the look. I would choose it over Lenovo’s equally conservative but blander Yoga aesthetic. HP’s Spectre line remains the most extravagant, of course, and the Gram 14 doesn’t come close to matching it. … [Read more...] about LG Gram 14 2-in-1 (2020) review: More than just a light laptop
