Performance, battery life, and charging They may pack equal amounts of RAM and ROM, but the Note 20 Ultra lays claim to a newer processor. It’s equipped with the Snapdragon 865 Plus in the United States (and China), while it runs on Samsung’s own Exynos 990 in the rest of the world. The S20 Ultra operates on the Snapdragon 855. It’s hardly a slow processor, but the 865 offers a small advantage that could make itself known if you run some of the latest games and apps at the same time. … [Read more...] about Samsung Galaxy Note 20 Ultra vs. Galaxy Note 10 Plus: New or old?

Software and updates The Samsung Galaxy Note 20 runs Android 10 with Samsung’s One UI 2.0 layered over it. It’s predictably one of the best Android skins out there, with a smooth interface that makes (one-handed) navigation simpler than it might otherwise have been, particularly on such a large phone. The iPhone 11 Pro runs on iOS 13 (soon to be iOS 14), which is also very user-friendly and easy to learn. It’s hard to say which one is best, with most users likely to be swayed simply by the OS they’re most familiar with. … [Read more...] about Samsung Galaxy Note 20 vs. iPhone 11 Pro: A Galaxy of competition
Specs can be deceptive with smartphone cameras, but the available evidence indicates that the A71’s camera is noticeably better. Our review of the A71 5G found that it does capture bright, colorful, and dynamic photos in good light, although struggles a bit in night settings. The OnePlus Nord, however, is fairly inconsistent. As we wrote in our review, it has a tendency to underexpose shots, which often results in a loss of detail. Its macro lens is also of relatively low quality and doesn’t focus as well as it should. … [Read more...] about Samsung Galaxy A71 5G vs. OnePlus Nord: Midrange phone battle
Moment Thin Photography Case The Pixel 4a has a flagship-level camera, but with only a single lens, it lacks some hardware tricks, like wide-angle shots. You can fix that with this case from Moment. A special attachment over the lens hole takes one of Moment’s range of lenses, and with a simple twist, you can add wide-angle, fisheye, or macro lenses, adding a completely different spin to your photography. It’s fairly protective, and there’s a lanyard point as well, so a wrist strap can be added. However, be warned that this case is expensive for what it is, and the lenses themselves aren’t cheap. … [Read more...] about The best Google Pixel 4a cases and covers
Battery and sound The 4,000mAh battery lasts for about five to five-and-a-half hours of screen time each day. This meant outside of very heavy days of use, it managed a full 8 a.m. to midnight stretch before needing a recharge. It’s acceptable, but not great. The fingerprint sensor is the same — acceptable but not great. It’s unreliable and quite awkward to use, because it’s smaller than the side sensors used on previous Sony phones. It doesn’t like wet fingers either. All this is made more annoying by the lack of face unlock to fall back on. … [Read more...] about Sony Xperia 1 II review: Stand out from the crowd
