Now Playing: Watch this: CNET News EE prices 1:52 How much will 4G cost? I'm glad you ask, phone fans, because EE has revealed its prices for 4G phone contracts and phones. Read on to find out how much a speeded-up Samsung Galaxy S3 LTE, HTC One XL or iPhone 5 will cost, and what nifty bonuses you can bag on top. The first 4G network in the UK launches next week, courtesy of EE (the network formed by the merger of Orange and T-Mobile). Orange and T-Mobile still exist, but if you want next-generation data speeds on your phone you need to sign up for a new contract from EE. What are the phone deals? EE says 4G contracts are £5 dearer per month than the equivalent 3G contract. All 4G deals come with unlimited calls and texts -- you just choose the amount of data you want, and pay accordingly. Phone deals start at £36 for 500MB. After that you can get 1GB for £41, 3GB for £46, or 5GB for £51. LG is kicking things off a little early. A few days before the start of MWC 2018, otherwise known as the world's biggest mobile industry trade show, the company announced it will unveil two new phones at the conference.Known as the K8 and K10, these phones will be available in Europe, Asia, Latin America and the Middle East. They come in three colors (black, blue and gold) and will add to LG's lineup of affordable, midrange phones. No pricing or availability date is yet known for the devices. But we do know that both phones run Android 7.1.2 Nougat and tout a handful of camera features, including improved noise-reduction for low-light pictures, a flashing timer for group photos and "Flash Jump Shot." This feature stitches up to 20 photos together and creates a shareable GIF. Now Playing: Watch this: LG V30 is the 'everything but the kitchen sink' phone 2:15 The K10, which is the more advanced of the two phones, has a 5.3-inch display, an octacore processor and a … [Read more...] about LG K8 and K10 pack nifty camera tricks into a midrange lineup
The hotly anticipated Motorola Xoom has been slapped with its first price sticker. Android Community reports that UK site Handtec has the tablet available for pre-order -- but it hasn't quite made its mind up how much it'll cost. That report shows the price as £660, but it's now zoomed up to £720. The site reveals that the tablet is "due in soon". If the price keeps creeping skywards, heck knows how much it'll cost by the time it's actually in stock. Let's hope we're not in for another round of price-juggling like the to-ing and fro-ing we saw before the Samsung Galaxy Tab went on sale, with prices constantly compared to the market-leading Apple iPad. Handtec was obviously paying attention to the debate generated among CNET UK readers and around the Web, so maybe this is a savvy PR stunt for a shopping site rather than a realistic indication of the Xoom's final price. The 10.1-inch Xoom is one of the first to run Android 3.0 Honeycomb. Honeycomb is fronted by a new … [Read more...] about Motorola Xoom price revealed, already zooming skywards
Dear Sony Ericsson, Though we've known each other for some time, this is the first time that I've written. For the most part, our relationship has been a good one. Back when AT&T was still AT&T Wireless, the Sony Ericsson T68i was one of the very first phones I ever owned (it's so old that I can't even find the CNET review). At the time, I was the envy of my friends since I had a nifty new feature called Bluetooth. What's more, I was the very first person that I knew to have multimedia messaging. Though I had to ditch the T68i by the time that I arrived at CNET almost exactly six years ago (happy anniversary to me!), I continued to use your phones periodically as my personal device. And in my official role at CNET, I've reviewed no fewer than 33 of your handsets. On the whole I've enjoyed what I've seen. You've given us brilliant displays, your Walkman and Cyber-shot phones can offer fantastic multimedia quality, and you regularly introduce conversation piece models like the … [Read more...] about On Call: An open letter to Sony Ericsson
