AMD’s Radeon RX 6000 family lineup is expected to include multiple cards, spanning entry-level, midrange, and premium GPUs. Like the 5000 series, AMD could offer an RX 6300 as a successor to the RX 5300 at the entry-level spot and position its RX 6500 and RX 6300 as midrange offerings to take on Nvidia’s GeForce RTX 3070. At the premium end, AMD could replace its RX 5700 with a new RX 6700. And given that AMD had offered a premium Radeon RX 5700 XT and $499 Radeon XT 50th Anniversary Edition, the company could offer high-end cards with a new RX 6900 model that will be designed to compete against Nvidia’s GeForce RTX 3080 and RTX 3090. … [Read more...] about AMD Radeon RX 6000 series: News, rumors, and everything we know so far

Big Navi likely exploits AMD's RDNA (Radeon DNA) 2 microarchitecture. If you've been following the console scene, RDNA 2 powers the GPUs that will land inside Microsoft's Xbox Series X and Sony's PlaySation 5. However, the next-generation Radeon RX 6000 series will show RDNA 2's true power. Bearing in mind AMD's close relationship with TSMC, the foundry should continue to be the provider for Big Navi chips for Team Red's next wave of graphics cards. It's pretty much a given that Big Navi is a product of TSMC's 7nm FinFET node and retains support for the fast PCIe 4.0 interface as well. … [Read more...] about This Is What AMD’s Radeon RX 6000 “Big Navi” Looks Like
For this showdown, testing Windows (see how to get Windows 10 for free or cheap) would have been enough, but we also wanted to see how Windows performed against another operating system. Because it is one of the most popular Linux distros available, we threw Ubuntu 20.04 into the mix as another variable. Unlike Windows, Ubuntu doesn’t feature a fancy fast startup mode, though. There are no tricks or special programming implemented in Ubuntu’s boot routine. When booted, it loads up the OS files all at the same time and in the same order, time and time again. … [Read more...] about Which PC Boots Up and Shuts Down Faster: AMD or Intel?
One eagle-eyed Redditor spotted a new patch for AMD's open-source AMDGPU driver for Linux that adds support for the USB-C interface. The patch mentions Sienna Cichlid, which is the rumored codename for AMD's Navi 21-based graphics card. It's not like it's the first time that AMD is incorporating USB-C on a graphics card either. The Radeon Pro W5700, which is powered by Navi 10, comes equipped with a USB-C port. However, this might be the first time that the chipmaker is putting one on a gaming graphics card. … [Read more...] about AMD Embraces USB-C For Some Navi 21 Radeon GPUs
The benchmarked results were largely similar with other members of the XT family. Like AMD’s Ryzen 9 3900XT, performance of the Ryzen 7 3800XT and Ryzen 7 3800X were similar in creative tasks, with the Ryzen parts outperforming the Intel Core i7-9700K. The Ryzen 5 3600XT and Ryzen 5 3600X also performed similarly, and AMD’s silicon led in benchmarks on content creation tasks against the Intel Core i5-9600K. … [Read more...] about AMD’s 12-core Ryzen 3900XT claims a 47% performance boost over Intel’s best
