Fighting games haven’t really ever gone out of fashion – just look at how well Street Fighter 5, Tekken 7, Injustice 2 and Marvel Vs Capcom Infinite have performed recently for proof of that. However, for all their success not one of them has felt quite as timeless as Super Smash Bros.A fighting game with Mario, Luigi and Princess Peach? If you’re not a fan of the series (yet) then it’s a pretty barmy idea at first glance, but spend a few rounds brawling your way through a four-player showdown and you’ll be forever convinced of its unique brilliance. You can imagine, then, just how much the Super Smash Bros community wants a new entry in the series, particularly now that the Nintendo Switch is consistently proving itself to be a system worth investing in. Super Smash Bros has featured on most of Nintendo’s major systems (including Nintendo 64, Gamecube, Wii, Wii U and 3DS) so it's nice to see that it's been confirmed for the Switch, … [Read more...] about Super Smash Bros Ultimate release date, trailer and news

E3 2018: Fallout 76, Super Smash Bros. and everything else from Nintendo, Xbox, PlayStation
The Los Angeles Convention Center will remain open to gamers until Thursday at 6 p.m., but the bulk of the E3 news we cared about was over and done with before the doors even opened on Tuesday. Press conferences and online briefings from the likes of EA, Bethesda, Sony, Microsoft, Ubisoft and Nintendo had revealed the biggest new games as early as last Saturday and Sunday. Such is life at the show once known as the Electronic Entertainment Expo. E3 evolves year after year, sometimes growing, sometimes shrinking (and sometimes moving to Santa Monica or Atlanta). And in a year with no real hardware announcements, the show may well be best enjoyed by those who get to stay home and watch the streams in real-time. To be clear, we'll still have plenty of news and analysis from the show floor here at CNET. And our sister sites GameSpot and Giant Bomb continue to have wall-to-wall live coverage, as always. But if you missed the minute-by-minute … [Read more...] about E3 2018: Fallout 76, Super Smash Bros. and everything else from Nintendo, Xbox, PlayStation
The Best Products of 2014
With more than 1,850 reviews under our collective belts in the PC Labs so far this year—228 of them in October alone—we're feeling pretty good headed into the holidays. But it's no time to slack off. Instead, we tapped our expert analysts and editors and asked them to name a single product that kicks major ass in each category we review. The result is before you: The Best Products of 2014. To reflect changes in the tech landscape, we've made some category changes this time around. It's our first year including a car as a technology product, for example. And the concept of the connected digital home has exploded over the past 12 months, and we're happy to include some worthwhile contenders in home control and security—even robotics. We've also decided to break out the "phablet" category this year. Those are the giant smartphones with tremendous screens that look a lot like tablets you see all over the place these days. And we've of course we've still got the … [Read more...] about The Best Products of 2014
Sony Highlights New PlayStation Games, Move Integration
LOS ANGELES—Hundreds of media and industry figures crammed into a nearly packed Los Angeles Memorial Sports Arena last night for Sony'S E3 2012 PlayStation presentation, which highlighted upcoming games, including those that support the Sony Move controller. Sony kicked things off with Quantic Dream's Beyond: Two Souls. Quantic Dreams announced that the game's protagonist, Jodie Holmes, will be played in voice and motion capture by Academy Award nominee Ellen Page. The company was very vague on the game's subject matter beyond a girl running from the police with a cryptic connection to the supernatural, but a gameplay video seemed very reminiscent of Quantic Dream's last game, Heavy Rain. Heavy Rain was notable for its unique and cinema-like storytelling and a structure that felt more like an interactive movie than a video game. PlayStation All-Stars Battle Royale was the second game on Sony’s list. This Super Smash Bros.-like brawler combines the biggest names from … [Read more...] about Sony Highlights New PlayStation Games, Move Integration
