Biostar has been expanding its product lineups for some time now, so the introduction of higher-end motherboards is not exactly surprising. Nonetheless, Biostar's decision to compete directly with advanced platforms from the Big Four makers may be an important milestone for the industry because ASUS, ASRock, Gigabyte, and MSI have been commanding the retail motherboard market for about a decade now after second-tier mainboard makers refocused to other products. The Yoga 9i 14 lasted for just over two hours, which is roughly average across the laptops we’ve tested. The XPS 13 9310 Full HD lasted for almost four hours and was much more efficient at balancing CPU and GPU use against battery life, while the MSI Prestige 14 Evo lasted for about 30 minutes less than the Yoga. But that’s not the biggest problem. The big weak point is the color. The ThinkPad 13’s display hits 63 percent of the sRGB scale, which is poor compared to most laptops we’ve reviewed. Most displays exceed 90 percent, and a few hit 100 percent. Colors do not pop on this display, and it shouldn’t be used by anyone who needs to do color-critical work with photos and videos.
